North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau to host senior citizens fraud prevention summit

The North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Better Business Bureau serving Central and South Alabama, is set to present a free "Protect Yourself Against Scammers Summit" tailored specifically for senior citizens.

Scheduled for Thursday, March 7, the summit aims to equip local seniors with essential knowledge and tools to safeguard themselves against various fraudulent schemes. Covering an array of topics relevant to both seniors and the wider community, the event will delve into the "Top Scams of 2023," Government Imposter Scams, Veteran Scams, Romance Scams, Identity Theft, Investment Fraud, Cryptocurrency and Medicare Scams.

Kristina Pittman, Executive Director of the North Baldwin Chamber, stressed the significance of educating senior citizens on fraud prevention.

"We must educate our senior citizens with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves against the threat of scammers. By raising awareness and helping our senior citizens recognize fraud before they fall victim," Pittman said in a news release.

The summit is scheduled to be held at the Senior Center in Bay Minette from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a light lunch served from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Senior citizens are cordially invited to attend this educational event free of charge.
