The North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce has announced its inaugural Dragons on the Delta Dragon Boat Race, a new community event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at Live Oak Landing in Stockton.

The first-of-its-kind event is designed to bring together businesses, organizations, families and community members for a day of competition, entertainment and community spirit along the waters of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, a news release from the chamber said.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 8 a.m., with the first race launching at 8:30 a.m. Participants will compete in colorful dragon boats while spectators enjoy a full day of activities in a family-friendly atmosphere.

The event will also feature food vendors, entertainment, team spirit competitions and opportunities for community engagement throughout the day.

"Dragons on the Delta is more than just a race — it is an opportunity to bring our community together in a fun and unique way while showcasing the beauty of North Baldwin County," Kristina Pittman, Executive Director of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, said in the release. "We are thrilled to introduce dragon boat racing to our area and invite businesses, civic groups, nonprofits, and individuals to join us on the water. Whether you're paddling, cheering from the shore, volunteering, or sponsoring the event, there is a place for everyone to be part of this exciting new tradition."

The chamber is currently recruiting teams and seeking sponsors for the event. Individuals and organizations interested in entering a team, volunteering or becoming a sponsor are encouraged to contact the chamber.
