MOBILE, Ala. — North Baldwin Center for Technology student volunteers assisted eighth-grade students at the second annual SAWDC Worlds of Opportunity 2011 Career Expo. Eighth grade students, teachers, school administrators, industry leaders and high school volunteers converged on the Fairgrounds in Mobile last month.

Amber Williams, NBCT senior, reported, “I was surprised at the number of technology-related careers incorporated into the workforce.”
She further commented that “the hands-on experiences in a smaller environment” were my favorite.”
Heaven DeLaGarza, NBCT senior and completer in carpentry, said, “I enjoyed helping others learn about the world of opportunities within the field of construction.”
Spencer Ziegler, NBCT sophomore, commented, “The Worlds of Opportunity Career Expo is a major event in Alabama that I hope will become the largest in the nation.”
A project of the Southwest Alabama Workfoce Development Council, the expo is a fun, educational, hands-on opportunity for students to become familiar with a broad overview of jobs available in the area.
