FOLEY, Ala. — The Foley High School Athletic Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for this year’s class of inductees. Nominations are for Hall of Fame athletes and associate members.
According to Ivan Jones, former Foley High School head football coach and FHS Athletic Hall of Fame member, to be eligible nominees must have been out of school 10 years, which makes members of the Class of 1999 eligible for this year’s nomination process.
Associate membership in the Hall of Fame is for those who have made a significant contribution to Foley High through support and non-athletic endeavors, Jones said.
Nominations should be submitted by Aug. 7. Those selected to enter the Hall of Fame will be recognized during a ceremony prior to the Sept. 11 football game against Fairhope High School.
Those wishing to nominate an individual should list when the person played, what sport, honors the nominee received in school (both athletic and scholastic), and information regarding the nominee’s work/career, Jones said.
Nominations should be sent to Foley High School, 1 Pride Drive, Foley, AL 36535 - “Attention Ann Nichols.”
“We started the Hall of Fame in 1983,” Jones said. “We inducted 20 that first year. We’ve averaged about five a year since then.”
Jones was inducted into the Hall of Fame in its inaugural year.
