MOBILE, Ala.—And one more for the road. The No. 1 Class 3A Bayside Academy Admirals and the No. 1  6A Dirty Dozen of McGill-Toolen Catholic met for the fourth and final time this year Tuesday at the University of South Alabama Jags Gym with Bayside winning in four games 22-25, 25-23, 25-9, 25-20.

The Admirals won three of the four battles of “Number Ones” but Mc-T knocked off the Admirals last weekend in the Shrimp Fest tournament semifinals in Gulf Shores.

“I’m proud of the girls for coming back tonight after last weekend, not throwing in the towel,” said Bayside coach Ann Schilling. “We stayed focused and regained the momentum after losing that first game and then kept the pressure on. McGill made it tough and that’s what we want. We want challenges and test ourselves against the best. Now we have to carry this into the area (tournament) and continue to play at a high level.”

Dirty Dozen coach Gretchen Boykin said her club is playing well but failed to do what it did at Gulf Shores, maintain pressure.

“We won that first game and then did not keep up the pressure. We still need to get better at that like we were able to last time. But this is still good for the kids, both Ann’s and ours to get to play each other during the season because it will help us in the post season and that’s the goal. We wanted to do this, schedule  a  match at a neutral location out of the kids comfort zone. It’s all about getting ready for state and that environment.”

Jhalen Caffey led the Bayside attack with 14 kills, two blocks, an ace and 17 digs, Morgan Dulaney had 11 kills, three blocks, one assist and 13 digs and three blocks; Lauren Chastang added eight kills, five aces and eight digs; Harper Morrison had two kills, two blocks and two digs; Madison Matthews had 14 digs, and an ace; Julia Martin had nine digs, two aces and an assist; Sydney Chandler had 39 assists, nine digs, two kills and a block.

Katherine Still had 16 kills, one block, 15 digs; Victoria Young had nine kills, four blocks; Katelyn Bobinger eight kills, two blocks; Sharon Williams had 18 assists, Lindsey Farnell had 10 assists, Liz Murphy had eight assists, Kendall Coleman had 19 digs and Mary Francis Seiter had 18 digs.

Chandler is on pace to tie or pass a national high-school record for assists for ninth through 12th grade seasons. The record is 6,102. The Bayside senior setter now has 5,912. But counting her eighth-grade season as a varsity setter, Chandler already has more than 7,000 career assists.

Bayside will host the 3A Area 1 tournament Monday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

McGill is hosting the 6A Area 2 tournament beginning Tuesday at 3 p.m.
