The Robertsdale Rotary Foundation Rodeo will be back at the Coliseum this weekend for the 23rd annual Professional Cowboy Association event, but not without a couple of new twists.
Bo Campbell Productions will once again run the rodeo competition and will feature a ranch bronc riding event that will be new to Robertsdale rodeo fans.
Away from the rodeo action, there will also be some new vendors in attendance according to Rebecca Mills, Treasurer and Past President of the Robertsdale Rotary Club.
“We’re going to have Fairhope Roughstock there, we’re going to have Moonpie Mama doing face painting and Studio Alley is also going to be there with her hats,” Mills said.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. each night
On both Friday and Saturday nights, the gates will open at 5:30 p.m. before the rodeo action begins at 7:30 p.m. Kids aged 12 and under will earn free admission Friday night.
Veterans to be honored
Also on both nights will be a moment of appreciation for veterans in attendance. Mills said that Friday night there will be some guests from the William F. Green Nursing Home and that members of the Robertsdale High School JROTC program will also be on hand.
Saturday night, the Baldwin County Chorus will sing the national anthem before veterans in attendance are honored at intermission of the rodeo.
Tickets available in advance
While tickets will be available for purchase at the gate, attendees can also pick up tickets in advance from various locations around the county. Prices are $15 for adults and $10 for children aged 6-12.
Rodeo tickets can be bought at the Summerdale Western Store, Greers Cash Saver in Robertsdale, the three Bryant Bank locations in Daphne, Foley or Orange Beach, the United Bank in Silverhill as well as the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce in Robertsdale.
Draw highlights
On the dirt, there are eight events on the draw scheduled for action on both nights where only three runs of bareback riding will be on display Friday night. Both nights feature at least 18 entrants in barrel racing, 9 entrants in breakaway roping, 11 entrants in bull riding, 7 entrants in calf roping, 2 entrants in saddle bronc riding, 2 entrants in ranch bronc riding, 11 entrants in steer wrestling and 7 entrants in team roping.
“Come ready to have a good time,” Mills says
Mills added it would be a good idea for rodeo-goers to bring cash as not all vendors will take cards but the concession stand at the coliseum will take cash or cards.
“Come ready to have a good time. We’re under a covered arena so rain or shine, we’re going to have a rodeo,” Mills said.
