ELBERTA, Ala. — Plans are being finalized for the Elberta Police Department’s first ever Wings, Rhythm and Brews Festival.
According to a festival news release, the two-day event is set for July 19-20 at Elberta Town Park. The inaugural event is also designed to both benefit Elberta PD and promote the department’s “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully” program.
Organizers say the event will feature live music, hot wings, vendors offering concessions, adult beverages, water slides and a variety of games for children. Participants will also be able to purchase wristbands good for a day.
During the May Elberta Town Council meeting, organizers announced that 41 vendors and nine bands have committed to the festival so far.
However, upon discussion of the festival hours, Mayor Marvin Williams advised that the second day’s hours be adjusted.
“On Sunday, you might limit the beer and bands until 1 p.m.,” he said, pointing out that services at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church are underway on Sunday mornings.
“That church is right next door,” Councilwoman Betty Wood added.
The Council agreed to consider the Sunday hours further at a later meeting.
