Horace Nelson, born Aug. 27, 1932, died May 27, 2007.
He will be honored as a man who loved, honored and cherished his wife, Barbara, his four children Gene, Rick, Pam, and David.
He retired from the Nestlé Company where he worked for 33 years. A resident of Gulf Shores, from 1991 to 2006, he served as chairman of the Board of Directors for Gulf Shores Utilities, served on the Gulf Shores Planning Commission, and worked with several other civic and charitable organizations. He and wife Barbara moved to Hughes Springs, Texas, in September of 2006.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of Hughes Springs, Texas; three sons Gene (Rebecca) Nelson, of Houston, Rick (Amy) Nelson of Hughes Springs, Texas, and David (Kathleen) Nelson of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter Pam (Bill) of Lewisville, Texas; and 12 grandchildren: Jeff (Molly), Emily, Clayton, Brett, Sarah, Heather, Caitlin, Drew, Hannah, Logan, Peyton and Joshua.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 17 at St. Andrew by the Sea, 17263 Ft. Morgan Road, Gulf Shores.
