Morris L. Nelson, 80, a native of Mobile and a resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in a local hospital.
He was an active member of Fairhope United Methodist Church, a mason, Lodge #814 F & A O, and a member of the Scottish Rite.
He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II and the U.S. Army during The Korean War. He retired from Kelly A.F.B., San Antonio, Texas, where he was an Industrial Engineering Technician.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Grace Nelson of Fairhope; three sons, Timothy (Shannon) Nelson of Jacksonville, Fla., Andy (Denise) Summerlin of Virginia Beach, Va., and Larry (Deborah) Summerlin of Asheville, N.C.; three daughters, Jeanne Watton of Fairhope, Judy (Norman) Phinney and Gail (Ray) Harvey, both of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Jewel (James) Turner of Mobile and Lois (Fores) Klaas of Tillmans Corner.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 22 at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Fairhope United Methodist Church building fund, 155 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.
