FOLEY, Ala. — Nashville Country Recording Artists, Tabor Dame, will be playing at the 12th Annual Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Professional Rodeo sponsored by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.

They will perform nightly at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and 7 at the city of Foley Horse Arena, with rodeo festivities beginning at 8.

Tabor Dame has captured a fresh, one-of-a-kind sound, blending “bluegrass boys” with “blue-eyed soul.”

The duo will be available for autographs following their performances.

The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Professional Rodeo was recognized as the “2008 Favorite Rodeo” by the Professional Cowboy Association.

The rodeo will feature events such as bull riding, barrel racing, bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, and break-away roping.

There will be fun for the whole family, including entertainment, clowns and children’s activities.

All proceeds will directly benefit the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides educational assistance based on the ideas of suicide prevention and crisis management to the youth of Baldwin County.

The foundation helps fund “Peer Helper” and “Peer Leader” programs in numerous Baldwin County schools, including both public and private systems.

These programs consist of a selection process for students, a “Peer Power” curriculum and specialized training, and then presentations/peer support performed by the peer students to the general school population.

Programs and peer support deal with a variety of issues that students are faced with including self esteem, general stress, sexual abstinence, alcohol/drug use, parental divorce, weight issues and grief.

The foundation also partners with other organizations to bring speakers to the community to discuss issues ranging from teenage pregnancy to mental health.

Current Baldwin County schools with peer programs are Baldwin County High School, Bayside Academy, Central Baldwin Middle School, Daphne High School, Foley High School, Gulf Shores High School, Robertsdale High School and Spanish Fort High School.

Summerdale School will be implementing their program the 2009/2010 school year.

Statistics show that when a teen has an issue that generally teens will talk to a peer first before even a teacher or a parent.

In 1998, Foley High School was the first Baldwin County school to implement the Peer Helper program as part of the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation to provide a support group among high school students.

To date it is now in eight schools county wide and has provided services to thousands of students.

Tickets to the rodeo are available at a discounted rate at Summerdale Western Store, State Farm Foley and all Colonial and Wachovia banks in Baldwin County.

Tickets may also be purchased at the gate for $10 adults, $6 children ages 4 to 12 years, and free for children 3 and under.

The rodeo will also be held Aug. 8th with a Children's Village starting at 7 p.m.

All entertainment and events are included in the rodeo ticket price.
