William Russell Murfin, 81, a native of Memphis, Tenn., and resident of Silverhill, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at a local healthcare facility.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, a longtime pastor in lower Alabama and Baldwin County, a past pastor and member of First Baptist Church of Robertsdale.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Murfin of Silverhill, six children, Brenda Marchman of Madison, Miss., Russ Murfin of Spanish Fort, Marty Murfin of Silverhill, Nancy Hall of Fairhope, Martha Tauzin of Mansfield, Texas, Laurie Pierce of Baton Rouge, La.; sister, LaVora Sprinkle of Richmond, Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 27 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the First Baptist Church of Robertsdale. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
