Motorcyclist dies on Causeway

Posted

Authorities have identified the Spanish Fort man killed Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash on the Causeway as 44-year-old Lawrence Guy Adams.

Spanish Fort Police Chief David Edgar said Adams was piloting a motorcycle and lost control of the vehicle leading to the crash. The accident occurred in the eastbound lane of U.S. 90. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:20 p.m.

Edgar said this is the first fatality on the Causeway since Joseph Michael Dailey, 54, of Mobile was pinned by a Pontiac Grand Prix between the concrete retaining wall and his truck's tailgate.

In addition to the police department, Spanish Fort Fire and Rescue, Alabama State Troopers, MedStar ambulance service and the Alabama Service Assistance Patrol for the Alabama Department of Transportation responded to the Thursday evening crash.
