Mary Anne Moore, 56, a native and resident of Foley, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the home of her niece, Darlene Burke.
She had been loved and cared for by James, Darlene and their family for the past four years when Alzheimer’s took away her ability to live independently.
She was born Aug. 15, 1951 to C.V. “Bub” and Grace Moore of the Fish River community. She was the youngest of seven children with one sister and five brothers. She was a treasured blond, blue-eyed bouncy little girl, who brought joy to her parents, relatives and neighbors.
She grew up in an environment filled with love, music and fun playing with cousins and neighbor children. She was nurtured by family and friends in the Wesleyan Church in Magnolia Springs, where she made a commitment to Jesus Christ at an early age. She remained active in her church throughout her life where she served as pianist, vocalist and in various other positions for over 30 years.
She loved life, her Lord, her church, her family and her friends unconditionally. She was a positive, matter of fact kind of person, very much like her dad. She devoted her energies to making good things happen, rather than worry about issues over which she had no control. She saw and appreciated the humor in life. She loved good food, good music and good fellowship.
She graduated from Foley High School, Troy University and the University of South Alabama. She held certificates in elementary education and counseling. She began her teaching career in August 1973 and devloted the next 29 years of her life to the education oand well being of children as she nurtured, taught and counseled at Foley Elementary School.
Her influence and guidance has made a difference in the lives of countless children. She retired from her position as counselor as the onset of Alzheimer’s became apparent in June 2002. Co-workers, supervisors and students apprecated her for her cooperative spirit, her integrity and her love for children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.V. and Grace Barton Moore, sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Kennth Snyder; brothers, Edwar and Earl Moore, sisters-in-law, Faith Moore and Kitty Moore; and nephew, Emmett Moore.
Survivors include three brothers, Kenneth Moore and Norm (Marge) Moore of Foley, and Don (Judy) Moore of Gulf Shores; numerous nieces and nephews.
