MOBILE, AL – The Mobile Symphony will hold its annual Chamberfest Performances at the Larkins Music Center on May 31 and June 2.
Chamberfest is an intensive 4-day chamber music workshop for string players and pianists of all ages in the Mobile Bay area, and includes more than six hours of coaching by Mobile Symphony’s professional musicians. These sessions all lead up to the two culminating public performances.
“Playing chamber music teaches our participants musical skills that not only improve individual music performance, but also listening skills and the ability to work together as a group,” said Erin Horan, Director of Education. ”The community will truly enjoy hearing performances of both the professional Mobile Symphony musicians and the workshop participants of all ages.”
The first performance will be the Chamberfest Faculty Recital on May 31 at the Larkins Music Center. Performers include: Dr. Guo Sheng Huang, cello; Enen Yu, violin; Brian Brown, viola; and Dr. Robert Holm, piano. The second will take place on June 2 and will feature 30 participants ages 13 and up performing their workshop repertoire.
Both performances are free and open to the public. A $5 donation is suggested at the door. For more information, please call MSO’s Director of Education, Erin Horan, at 251-432-2010 orerin@mobilesymphony.org.
