Mobile gears up for inspirational Jehovah's Witnesses convention

Posted

Amidst a world often dominated by negative headlines, Jehovah's Witnesses are gearing up to spread positivity with their 2024 "Declare the Good News"! convention series at the Mitchell Center in Mobile.
The free, three-day event, beginning June 28 and continuing over three weekends, aims to uplift and inspire attendees with messages of hope and encouragement.

Expected to attract over 10,000 visitors to Mobile, the convention promises a boost to the local economy through increased spending at area businesses.

"We are excited to work once again with city officials in Mobile to host our conventions," said Michael McClellan, local spokesperson for Jehovah's Witnesses. "These conventions are a highlight of the year for thousands of people who need to experience some positivity in their lives, and we are happy to enjoy the program once again in this welcoming and hospitable city."

The convention schedule includes Bible-based videos, discourses, and interviews focused on themes such as the significance of good news, overcoming challenges with positive messages and cultivating resilience in the face of adversity. Each weekend features sessions tailored to engage and educate attendees on these topics.

Saturday's agenda includes a baptism ceremony for candidates from local congregations, while Friday and Saturday mornings will showcase a two-part video feature designed to captivate audiences.

Local Jehovah's Witnesses congregations are actively inviting community members to attend this enriching event, part of a global effort that saw nearly 13 million people participate in similar conventions worldwide last year.

For those interested in attending, the "Declare the Good News"! 2024 convention series will take place on the following weekends:

  • June 28–30
  • July 5–7 (Spanish)
  • July 12–14

All sessions will be held at the Mitchell Center, located at 5950 Old Shell Road in Mobile. The event is open to the public at no cost. Sessions are scheduled for Friday and Saturday from 9:20 a.m. to 4:55 p.m. and Sunday from 9:20 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., with each day including a one-hour and 20-minute lunch break. The program will include Bible-based talks, interviews and video presentations.
