ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — Friends of the Arts 2009 Visiting Artists Series concludes with Pamela S. Allen’s “A Sense of Place,” a collection of two-dimensional mixed media, including oil, acrylic and encaustic.
Each creation represents a point of reflection between the artist and her world of images, memories, environment.
A native Floridian, Allen received her bachelor of arts education from the University of Florida, bachelor of fine arts from Ringling School of Art and Design and her master of fine arts from the University of Mississippi.
She currently teaches painting, printmaking and drawing at Troy State University, where she has served as director of the university's Malone Gallery.
Her paintings, prints and drawings have been exhibited throughout the United States in juried exhibitions as well as solo and group shows.
She is also active in the research of object symbology and moderated a related panel at the SECAC Conference in Mobile.
This exhibit is “an exploration of mixed media and paint; nature and cycles; the simulation of random thought coupled with nostalgia and symoblic imagery to reverberate a strong sense of place,” states the artist.
Her work is rich with color and layers, inviting the viewer to enter each beautiful moment in time and space.
The Friends of the Arts are honored to have such an accomplished artist as the final exhibit of 2009.
An opening reception will be held Nov. 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Orange Beach Art Center, and her exhibit will run through Dec. 31.
Join the Friends of the Arts and member artists of the Orange Beach Art Center in welcoming Allen. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
