ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --- Only minor damage was reported in Baldwin County as storms ripped through nearby areas on Christmas Day.
Paula Tillman, public information coordinator with the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency, said EMA Director Mitchell Sims was onsite Wednesday as crews cleared up debris along I-65 between the two Bay Minette exits.
Trees were reported down in the area when a potential tornado came through at approximately 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Tillman said. No structural damage has been reported. EMA is awaiting confirmation from the National Weather service as to whether or not the damage was caused by a tornado, which should come sometime Wednesday or later this week, Tillman said.
Damage from several tornadoes was reported Tuesday in Mobile County on Tuesday.
At around 5 p.m., the National Weather Service reported significant damage to local hospitals and numerous businesses, knocking out power to 19,000 customers in the mid-town Mobile area.
Then at around 7:30 p.m. a few homes and trailers along with debris was reported along Natchez Highway in the Wilmer community of Mobile County.
Damage from storms was also reported in Choctaw, Clarke, Washington and Escambia counties on Tuesday.
