An intersection in Daphne will close for most of the summer as work advances on the Milton Jones Road extension project, a city and county partnership aimed at improving east-west traffic flow.
The intersection at County Road 13 will shut down May 4 and remain closed through the end of August while crews work on the roadway extension that will connect Pollard Road to Highway 181. Officials say the project is designed to provide a much-needed additional east-west corridor in the growing area.
The project is a joint effort between the City of Daphne and the Baldwin County Commission.
“We made the decision to schedule the closure during the summer months because there is less traffic on the roads with school being out,” Daphne Mayor Robin LeJeune said in a news release. “We appreciate the community’s patience during the construction period.”
Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to follow posted detours during the closure period. Local officials say the work is part of broader efforts to improve mobility and support continued residential and commercial growth in the region.
