Miles Tipton Clements, Jr., passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at the age of 80.

Miles was born in Turner County, Georgia and was the eldest of six boys. He was an Eagle Scout and graduate of North Georgia College with a BS in Physics, and Kansas State University with a MS in Computer Science. After graduation he served in the US Army as an Air Defense Artillery Officer for twenty years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. His service included a tour in Vietnam, command of a US missile battery in Germany, and work for the Office of Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Planning Staff for Space - Unified Space Command.  After retirement, Miles served as a Theater Missile Defense program leader for Lockheed Martin, Director of the Navy Theater Ballistic Missile Defense program, and as a Vice President for Computer Science Corporation. He was an avid golfer and a Deacon at Southside Baptist in Huntsville, AL.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Miles Tipton Clements, Sr. and Esma Smith Clements, and brothers Wesley Clements and Thomas Clements.

His survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Sanders Clements; children, Miles T. “Chip” Clements III (Michelle), Christi Clements and John Clements (Kelly); grandchildren, Miles T. “Jake” Clements IV, Josh Clements, Jack Grimsley, Cooper Grimsley, Bailey Clements, Brooke Clements, Tyler Clements and Caleb Clements; his brothers Julian Clements (Lynn), Emory Clements (Peggy), and Robert (Ellen) Clements; other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Mr. Clements’ life was held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, Fairhope. Visitation began at 10:00 am.
