Mildren Rebecca “Becky” Longshore, née Golden, passed away on Dec. 18, 2025, in Foley, Alabama. Born on Jan. 12, 1939, in Tallassee, Alabama, Becky lived a vibrant and entrepreneurial life marked by deep curiosity, devotion to family, and a love for community. Beckys early years in Tallassee laid the foundation for her strong work ethic and independent spirit. In the early 1970s, she channeled that drive into opening Becky's Barn Antique Shop in Bon Secour. Her keen eye for unique treasures and her warm personality quickly made the shop a local favorite. Building on that success, she launched Vaughan's Quick Mart in the mid-70s and later Vaughan's Department Store in the late 70s and early 80s. Each venture reflected her entrepreneurial flair and commitment to serving her community with integrity and care.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Becky was known for her zest for life. She loved to swim and snorkel—activities that brought her joy and a sense of peace. Dining out and dancing were among her favorite pastimes, especially when shared with friends and family. Her social nature made every gathering livelier and more memorable.
A woman of evolving faith, Becky was a longtime Methodist until she married Allen, whom she often referred to as the love of her life. Together they explored various churches and religious traditions with open hearts and inquisitive minds. Their mornings frequently began with Bible study sessions—quiet moments of reflection that underscored their spiritual bond.
Becky was deeply proud of her family. She is lovingly remembered by Amy Lisseveld Pharr and William David Lisseveld; six grandchildren—T.C., Heather, Ashley, Shelby, Will, and Alivia; and four great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David Dora Golden and Jettie Marguerite Dorough Golden.
Becky’s legacy lives on through the lives she touched—with kindness in business dealings, warmth in friendships, joy in family gatherings, and wisdom shared during quiet conversations over coffee or scripture. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will be held in Becky's honor in early spring.
