Bay Minette Police investigators are applauding the quick actions of officers after they arrested burglars immediately following a break-in at Chuck Stephens Dodge on U.S. Highway 31 South.
Capt. Clarence Crook said the incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. Aug. 8.
“Two adult males and a juvenile went to the north side of the store and knocked out a window with a baseball bat,” Crook said. He said one patrol officer was making his usual rounds, which included checking on local businesses, when he saw people running from the building.
“He called for the other on-duty officers and they apprehended the two adults on the scene. The men then gave up the juvenile,” Crook said.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Genesis Banks, 19-year-old Joshua Tucker and a 17-year-old juvenile on charges of third-degree burglary. Banks was released on a $5,000 bond while Tucker remains in jail at the Baldwin County corrections facility.
Crook said the arrests were possible because of the officer’s performance of his duties and his quick thinking.
