BAY MINETTE — As the football season at Baldwin County High School has ended, it is no secret that BCHS's players have done a tremendous job. This time last year, you would have never imagined BCHS ever going to the playoffs.
Even though they lost to Prattville, they were able to show off their skills and hard work throughout the whole football season. Congratulations to every football player, their supportive parents and fans, and especially their coaches! Go Tigers!
This is the second year for students to have the Jazz Combo at Baldwin County High as a class. Eight students are in the class this year. They are Kyle Boyington, Tyler McCall, Zach Christiansen, Karrie Ellis, Tyral English, Blaine Waltman, R.J. James, and Gordon Miller. They play for the students during school lunches.
They also perform at "Support our Schools", Christmas Fest, and at other community gatherings. If you ever become fortunate enough to watch these outstanding students perform, you will notice their range in music fluctuates from different styles. They play everything form Jazz standards, to Funk, to Dixieland, to anything else you could imagine!
The Baldwin County High School Marching Band performed at the Veterans Day parade Monday. They also performed at the Veteran's Day assembly. As the marching season is winding down, students are getting ready for concert band.
This Marching season has been unforgettable, especially with the Rolling Stone's theme. It will be exciting to see what band director, Trenton Burkett, has planned for next marching season. With what we have seen in the past, surely he will find a way to surprise us all.
Congratulations band members, for all your hard work and dedication that you put into everything you have done this year. The band boosters are beyond proud of every individual, and even Mr. Burkett himself has commented how the band would never have gotten this far without the outstanding attitudes of every student and parent.
Good luck on concert season!
All girls interested in golf need to start practicing for the upcoming season.
Mrs. Harris's class would like to thank the FES members for a great turnout for the Halloween party. They will be doing a service project for a children's home soon. Their T-shirts have been ordered.

Coach Belarmino, BCHS's volleyball coach, went to Birmingham to select the alternative team for Class two A.
The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the state meet in Moulton on Saturday. Josh Paulson is the only senior. The cross country coach says, " I am so proud of these kids. They have worked so hard this season. We are trying to get better every week individually and as a team. We realize it will take time, but with the attitude of these kids and our parents we can and we will get to the next level.
“The level of interest in cross country has continually increased at BCHS. Also, I want to thank Mr. Cabaniss and Coach Wofford for their continued support of our cross country team."
Baldwin County High School hosted a Prematurity Awareness Day on Wednesday. One in eight babies is born too soon, many with lifelong problems. In nearly half of premature births the cause is unknown. The Awareness Day is sponsored by FBLA. Students were able to purchase a bracelet which supported the Prematurity Awareness Day. All funds went directly to the March of Dimes.
Students who are trying out for Junior Varsity and Varsity Baseball will find out Saturday, Nov. 17, if they made the team. Good Luck!
EcoAction Club has been recycling around the school. Every Friday, the members gather the paper from each teacher, and then they take the paper to a nearby recycling bin. One day the club hopes to have their own recycling bin to be placed at Baldwin County High School.
There are a few students who have not submitted their pictures for the Yearbook Senior Ads. These students have paid for one but have not sent in their pictures. The Balcoala yearbook staff need these pictures as soon as possible or you will not have the ad that you paid for.
The yearbook staff is accepting pictures that students or parents would like to have in the yearbook. They can be from summer activities, dances, sports, club activities, or just hanging out with friends. There is not a guarantee that every picture submitted will be placed in the 2008 yearbook. If you need more information, contact Mrs. Clark.
A special thanks to Mrs. Morries and her AP Government class for a fabulous Veterans Day assembly on Wednesday, Nov. 7. Baldwin County High greatly appreciates their hard work as we thanked our nation's veterans for all they have done.
The National Anthem Choir meets Tuesday mornings at 7. They meet in the BCHS choir room. It is open to anyone who would like to come and listen and join the fun!
