TARZANA, Calif. — Sound Feelings Publishing is inviting submissions of beautiful designs to be included in a brand new multi-color instruction booklet for the popular Spirograph toy from the 1960s.

The contest is free to enter and the deadline is Oct. 5, 2010.

Details can be found online at www.soundfeelings.com/products/spirograph_pen_refills/art_contest.htm.

An impressive $2,000 worth of prizes will be issued to the winning designs.

One grand prize of $450, two second-place winners at $125, four-third place winners at $75, 10 fourth-place winners at $40 and 30 fifth-place winners at $20 will be honored.

The original Spirograph incorporated pens that had four colors, black, blue, red and green.

The new designs must be drawn with the $5.99 Spirograph Multicolor Pen. These pens contain the original four colors, black, blue, red and green — but they also include fun and creative rainbow colors: yellow, light blue, pink, purple, brown, and orange — 10 colors in one pen.

The Spirograph Multicolor Pen contains 10 ballpoint cartridges within one large barrel. The ballpoint pen tips of the cartridges are the exact size of the original pen tips that came with your 1960s Spirograph. Modern ballpoint pens have larger size tips that will not fit through the holes of the Spirograph gears.

The contest is for the 1967-1970 Kenner Spirograph toy (not Spirograph Plus or any other variant).
