ORANGE BEACH — Mediterranean Sandwich Co. has expanded in Baldwin County with a new coastal location.

Owner Vlad Moldoveanu started the business with his wife in Mobile in 2009 and has since expanded with three locations in the Mobile area. The Orange Beach location, at 25908 Canal Road within the Commons shopping center, is the third to open in Baldwin County after Daphne and Fairhope, along with one in Tuscaloosa.

The establishment offers flatbread sandwiches made with meats such as rotisserie chicken, beef and lamb along with ingredients made fresh daily. Moldoveanu said all the sauces and soups are made in-house in Mobile and delivered twice a week.

The gyros are their bestsellers, but Moldoveanu cited more Southern-inspired dishes such as their “Redneck Gyro,” which contains lamb, Conecuh sausage, smoked gouda and mozzarella cheese with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and Cajun Tzatziki sauce. They also offer chicken shawarma, salads and paninis.

Mediterranean Sandwich Co. is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday though Thursday and Sunday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
