Five Baldwin County high school seniors each received a $1,000 scholarship from Mediacom Communications for excellence in leadership, community involvement and academics.

The local recipients include Barrett Jackson of Daphne High School, Avery Hassen and Avery Langham of Fairhope High School, Sara Sahlie Marcato of Bayside Academy and Portia Hollis of Gulf Shores High School. These students are part of a group of 100 graduating seniors chosen nationwide for the 2026 Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program.

"Mediacom understands the importance of investing in future leaders like Barrett, Avery, Sara and Avery," Mediacom Regional Vice President Lee Beck said in a news release. "I'm proud that our company annually commits financial support to talented local students with the Mediacom World Class Scholarship Program. We congratulate all Class of 2026 graduates and celebrate them for their outstanding achievements so far."

Now in its 25th consecutive year, the program provides financial support to students living in areas where the company delivers high-speed broadband services. To be considered eligible for the scholarship, recipients must attend an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or technical school within the United States.

Giuseppe B. Commisso, chairman and CEO of Mediacom Communications, said the company's corporate philosophy extends beyond business success.

"We are committed to investing in the next generation because supporting students today is essential to building a stronger, more innovative, and more prosperous future for all," Commisso stated.
