Sally Northington McCarron, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009. She went quietly while in her bed surrounded by family.
She known simply as “G” to most of her close family.
She was known by all as a strong willed woman who spoke her mind without regret or fear. She was born Nov. 24, 1940 in Mobile. She grew up next door to and eventually married her elementary school sweetheart, Joseph McCarron on the day after Christmas 1960.
She was the driving force and the iron will behind Joe and the rest of her family. She and Joe moved to Orange Beach in 1972 where with no experience at all she became the head chef and co-owner of the Gulf Gate Lodge. She later helped Joe found Orange Beach Insurance agency, now known as the McCarron Insurance Group. She was respected by many and loved by all. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe McCarron Jr.; her parents, Albert and Sarah Northington, sister, Martha Strockis and two brothers, John Northington and James Northington.
Survivors include five children Joseph (Jerry Anne) McCarron III, Monica (Lawrence) Legualt, Michael (Bonnie) McCarron, Kevin (Claire) McCarron, and Patrick (Katie Spiers) McCarron; and seven grandchildren, Kelsey McCarron, Chandler Legualt, Rose Legualt, Caitlin Baker, Garrett Baker, Malcolm McCarron and Ryan McCarron.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
