Cora Lee James Petties Mayfield, a native of Lucidale, Miss., a resident of Fairhope, the last 55 years, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at home with her family.
She was a dedicated member of BibleWay Holiness Church where she was one of the founding members. She served as the mother of the church until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Mayfield, one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include a devoted son, Joseph Walter (Edna) Petties Jr. of Fairhope; sister Larena (Melvin) Walker; brother Mack (Inez) James; caring grandchildren, Joseph H. (Rebecca) Petties, Evelyn P. (Rickey) Mims, Grace Petties, Larry Petties, Mark (Tonya) Petties, James Petties, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, devoted cousin, Ella Mae Smith; devoted niece, Josephine Gaines; devoted pastor, Minister Lucille King; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at BibleWay Holiness Church, 12120 Boone Lane, Fairhope. Interment will follow at Twin Beech Cemetery.
