Merle Harper Maybaum, 94, a 20-year resident of Fairhope, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008.
She graduated from Transylvania College in Lexington, Ky., in 1939 with a BA in sociology. She served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at McLaren Hospital in Flint, Mich., and was a member of Court Street Methodist Church.
At the age 88, she was still delivering meals on wheels to those who were house bound. She will be remembered by all who knew her as compassionate and giving, devoted to her children and assisting others.
Survivors include six children, Lee (Linda) Maybaum of Locust Grove, Va., William (Greer) Maybaum of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Mary Maybaum of Fairhope, Barbara Maybaum Dulin of Bonita Springs, Fla., Susan Maybaum (Mark) Wisniewski of Mt. Vernon, Va.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Fairhope United Methodist Church, 155 Section St, Fairhope, AL 36532, or the charity of your choice.
