Matthew James Florkiewicz, 46, passed away passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Leeds on March 24, 2015 after complications from surgery on a broken ankle.

Matt was a loving and devoted husband, father, family man, co-worker and friend. Matt was never seen without a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.

He was born in Port Jefferson, Long Island, N.Y. on Jan. 8, 1969, and grew up on Staten Island. He moved to Spanish Fort in 1983, where he attended Fairhope High School. Matt met his wife Chriss Hendrickson Florkiewicz on March 26, 1999 and they were married March 26, 2000.

Matt and Chriss were currently living in Birmingham. During their 15 years of marriage, they lived in Jackson, Miss., Pensacola, Fla. Montgomery, Baton Rouge, La., Winter Springs, Fla. and Birmingham.

Throughout Matt’s professional career he was a devoted employee to Kinko’s, where he met Chriss, Pitney Bowes, Pete’s Print, and was currently a general manager for Canon Solutions America.

Matt loved his children, Matthew Joseph Florkiewicz, Prudence, Libby and the late Winston with his whole heart and soul.

Matt loved golfing, hunting, fishing, sailing, flying his drone and was an enthusiastic Alabama Crimson Tide fan.

If you ever met Matt, you loved Matt! He will truly be missed by all!

He is survived by his loving wife, Chriss Hendrickson Florkiewicz; and his son, Matthew Joseph Florkiewicz. He is also survived by his parents, John and Carolyn Florkiewicz; siblings, Karen Meredith (Richard), John Florkiewicz (Mary), Teresa Jehle (Carl), Michael Florkiewicz (Susan) and Mary Florkiewicz (Patricia). He is also survived by his loving in-laws, Claude and Bernie Hendrickson, Claude Hendrickson (Jan), and Carol and Chuck Hendrickson., He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of longtime friends.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 30, 2015, from 5-7 p.m., at duMont South Cottage, 17509 Scenic Hwy. 98 in Point Clear.
