While many are turning their attention to Halloween, supporters of Mary’s Haven are already looking ahead to Valentine’s Day and the organization’s annual Be My Valentine fundraiser.
The event is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2027, at The Flora-Bama. Event passes are $100 and include a chance to win $10,000, a live auction, entertainment by Wes Loper and food.
For 20 years, Mary’s Shelter, now known as Mary’s Haven, has provided assistance to homeless, pregnant women who choose life for their unborn children. The organization has expanded its efforts with the establishment of Mary’s Village, which is designed to help women transition from the haven and prepare for home ownership.
Women living in Mary’s Village will pay a monthly fee that is held in escrow. After two years in the program, the funds will provide a down payment toward purchasing a home of their own.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for the Be My Valentine event, providing another way for supporters to help young mothers and their children. Sponsorship levels include Bronze at $250, Copper at $500, Silver at $1,000, Gold at $2,500, Platinum at $5,000 and Diamond at $10,000.
More information about the event, sponsorships and Mary’s Haven is available at www.maryssheltergulfcoast.org.
The organization also raises funds through the Mary’s Shelter Gulf Coast Thrift Shop at 25289 State Street in Elberta. The shop sells gently used clothing, furniture, household goods and toys, with proceeds helping support the women served by Mary’s Haven.
The thrift shop is open for sales from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Donations of gently used clothing, furniture, household goods and toys are accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
