Mary Waddle Chamberlin

Posted

The bustle in Robertsdale, Alabama, seems a little slower to our family today as we are saddened to announce the passing of Mary Waddle Chamberlin.  Mary was preceded in death by her first husband of 34 years, Richard (Billy) Waddle and her second husband of 7 years Ron Chamberlin as well as her sister and three brothers. She is survived by her children, Richard (Lori) and Randall (Tammy) Waddle and her daughter Belinda Waddle Long. Mary leaves behind eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great grand baby. Services for Mary will be Fri, Oct. 24th, at 9:30 am visitation and 10:30 service at Bethel Baptist Church with a graveside service following at Baldwin Memorial Cemetery. Mary left us early in the morning on Oct. 20th, nine days before her 84th birthday. During her miraculous 5 year-long battle with cancer, she never stopped smiling or making us laugh. Making the best of every situation was her superhero strength that she used to push us forward to be our very best, to be kind to all and to always stretch to have more than we deserve so that we would always have plenty to give back to our friends, strangers and our community. Mary was a shining example of giving back as she became known as “The Seamstress of Baldwin County” following her retirement from Vanity Fair after serving there for 40+ years. Always giving, always striving and never giving up is the legacy that she leaves us with.  Per Mary’s directive we will move forward with our broken hearts, telling her stories, making fun of the words she pronounced incorrectly and of her hijinks that she brought to family trips, friendship gatherings and family reunions. Mary was one of a kind and leaves us all with a specifically shaped hole in our hearts that we never expect to fill. Funeral arrangements by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, Hwy. 59 Robertsdale, Alabama. 251-947-7781. www.mackfuneral.com.
