Mary Esteree Brantley Petty Grogan

Mary Esteree Brantley Petty Grogan, 91, a native of Garland, Ala., born Feb. 20, 1924 and a resident of Fairhope, Ala., passed from this life on Nov. 10, 2015.

Esteree was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and Mary Lindsey Brantley; sister, Voncille Brantley Cornwell; brother, Dr. William Melvin Brantley; and husbands, David Petty and Barry Grogan.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Lindsey Petty Scherfee of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and a stepdaughter, Virginia Grogan Esposito of Lecanto, Fla.

Mrs. Grogan received her B.A. in education from Troy State Teachers College and a master’s from the University of Alabama.

She retired from the Baldwin County School System after 47 years of service as an elementary teacher at Silverhill School and Robertsdale Elementary School, and was beloved by her students, many who remained in contact with her to the end of her life.

In her later years, she was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed watching golf on TV.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale, Ala. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at 10 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Silverhill Cemetery.
