Mary Doris Simonson, 67, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Shje was born Sept. 30, 1942 in Pensacola, Fla., to William H. and Eva Mae Warren.

She had a great love for children, whether her own children, her grandchildren, or those she cared for in a lifetime of service in childcare. She enjoyed life to the fullest whether it was travelling the world with her loving husband of 47 years Roger or spending time with her many close friends.

Her faith in the Lord never waivered, she enjoyed her service to Him in the Catholic faith from its beginnings at Sacred Heart in Pensacola to helping establish a new parish; Mater Dei in Chula Vista, Calif., to the rich faith and fellowship found at St. Patrick’s in Robertsdale.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; a grandson, Andrew; sister, Marilyn Downs; brother, William H. Warren Jr.; and sister, Nancy W. Owens.

Survivors include her husband, Arnold Roger Simonson of Seminole; four children, Arnold Roger (Denise) Simonson Jr. of Chula Vista, Calif., Michael W. (Maria) Simonson of Covington, Va., Karen Michelle (Dan) Gunter of Maple Valley, Wash., and Susanne Marie (William) Brach of Kent, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Peter, Adam, Alyssa, David, Danielle, Matthew, Mary, Jacob and Maggie; numerous nieces, nephews, many loving friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Alejandro Inclan and all of the wonderful nurses and associates at the Woodlands Medical Specialists and to all the doctors, medical and associate personnel at Coastal Vein Institute.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15 at Mack Funeral Home, Robertsdale. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Hospice Inc.
