Marjorie Cato Thomas, 95, a native of Crenshaw County, Ala., and resident of Robertsdale died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Robertsdale Church of Christ since 1963.
She owned and operated Thomas Grocery in Robertsdale and was an Avon salesperson for many years. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker who enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to fish and the out of doors.
She was preceded in death by son, Glenn Howard Thomas, and is survived by her husband of 73 years, Alfred “Fred” Thomas of Robertsdale; daughter, Jeannette (John) Cain of Robertsdale, three sons, Alfred P. (Frances) Thomas of Chickasaw, AL, James F. (Mary) Thomas of Douglasville, Ga., and Dewey B. Thomas of Silverhill; sister, Fannie Laura Thomas of Highland Home, Ala.; brother, Louis Cato of Wetumpka, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at noon at the Salem Church of Christ, Highland Home, Ala., with Mr. Johnny Emerson and Mr. Slate Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Church of Christ Cemetery, Highland Home. Pallbearers include Tony Thomas, Larry Thomas, David Thomas, Ricky Miller Jr., Ricky Miller Sr., Dennis Gentry and Joey Weaver.
