Maria Rosanne Jongebloed, 48, born September 11, 1963, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2012 after a 7 1/2 year battle with metastatic ovarian cancer.
She was surrounded by close family and friends in Fairhope, AL. She graduated from High School at St. Paul's Episcopal School in Mobile, Al. She graduated with a B.S. in nursing from University of South Alabama in Mobile, and Charity Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesiology in 1991. Her anesthesia practice began at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, LA for 8 years. She traveled the country providing relief anesthesia for 3 1/2 years. She then settled in Portland, Oregon where she worked at Kaiser Permanente, Sunnyside, as a nurse anesthetist until she was unable to continue due to her medical issues. In March, 2012 she moved to Fairhope to be near her family. She loved Dragon Boat Racing, hiking, knitting and travel. She made many friends along her life's! journey. She was a positive influence on all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, no longer suffering and resting until the Lord our God comes again. A memorial service will be held at Wolf Bay Funeral Home (Fairhope) at 3pm on June 30th, 2012. She is survived by her mother, Gladys Jongebloed, and sister Karla Williams of Fairhope, Joseph (father) and Susie Jongebloed of Mobile, uncle, Ralph Middleton and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. We wish to thank Doctors, nurses, and chemo nurses at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Sunntside, Oregon. Also the nurses at Thomas Hospital, Mobile Infirmary, Dr. F.H. Smith of Fairhope and Dr. Michael Finan of Mitchell Cancer Center. Thanks to the hospice nurses (Kaiser Home Hospice) and the Covenant Hospice Nurses in Daphne for their devoted and kind care. We especially thank our Loving God for His care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that do! nations be made in her name to the Ovarian National Cancer Alliance or the Fairhope Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
