A white man took an undisclosed amount of money when he robbed The First Gulf Bank Tuesday afternoon, police Lt. Jud Beedy said.
“He walked in around 1:15 p.m. and demanded the teller to give him all of their money,” Beedy said.
No customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery, according to Beedy.
“He didn’t use a weapon, but the teller assumed he had one. That was probably the best thing to do,” he said.
Police have pictures of the suspect and of the truck he drove.
The suspect is a white male of average build in his late 20s or early 30s. He had on a light blue shirt, black shorts and a baseball cap, Beedy said.
The suspect drove a white, full-size Chevrolet pick-up truck with either a blue stripe or some wording down the side, according to Beedy.
Police hope someone will recognize the suspect from the photographs taken from surveillance video, Beedy said.
The suspect parked the truck in a parking lot on Professional Place, about 100 yards from the bank, between Main Street and U.S. Highway 98 according to Beedy.
“He is facing robbery charges in the third degree at a minimum since he didn’t show a weapon,” Beedy said.
Robbery in the third degree is a Class C felony and can result in one to 10 years in prison.
Anyone with information on the suspect who robbed the First Gulf Bank on U.S. Highway 98 Tuesday can contact the Daphne Police Department.
