A 37-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a reported stabbing with a screwdriver led to a brief standoff with law enforcement on Dailey Lane.

Foley police officers responded at about 2 p.m. March 25 to a call involving a woman who had been stabbed. When they arrived, they began searching the area around the home for the suspect, later identified as Bruce Sterling Williams.

Authorities said Williams refused repeated verbal commands to exit the residence or respond to officers, prompting a standoff. After several warnings, a Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office canine was deployed into the home to locate him.

The police canine found Williams hiding inside the structure, and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Williams was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the canine apprehension. He is charged with assault 2nd degree and domestic violence - strangulation.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office assisted Foley police in the case.
