The Wharf held its annual Kids Win Fishing Tournament on Saturday, benefiting Make-A-Wish Alabama, with the organization granting the wish of a little girl from Baldwin County.
Ada, a 4-year-old girl from Bay Minette, has battled with bilateral retinoblastoma, which is a rare type of cancer that affects both eyes. An avid fan of the water, Make-A-Wish Alabama granted her a wish she and her family would never forget.
At the Kids Win Fishing Tournament held on Saturday, Sept. 27, in Orange Beach, Ada and her family were given their own platoon boat, fittingly named "Sea Ya L'Ada," as they celebrate the progress she has made on her journey and prepare to make new memories outdoors and on the water that will last a lifetime.
Along with granting her wish, Make-A-Wish Alabama raised $28,500 during the tournament, which saw children ages 3 through 10 participate, weighing their catch and receiving prizes and trophies. The tournament was open to both novice and experienced young anglers.
