MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. - Children enjoyed a morning of water slides, readings, face painting and other games Saturday at the new Magnolia Springs Public Library.

An outdoor water slide helped children cool off in the summer heat and teenagers volunteered their time to read books and play inside games with other children who attended.

The library is set to open in October and will include books, up-to-date computers and wireless internet. It also will be connected to the county system so residents and patrons can receive books that the library does not immediately have.

The library plans to open the week of Oct. 17, which is Friends of the Library Week nationally. The library is located at 12440 Magnolia Ave. Suite 600.
