Magnolia School students busy with phonics

Mrs. Munoz’s kindergarten class has been working on the letter “I” and its sound. They are listening to see if the “I” sound is in the beginning or middle of a word. They are also working on Thanksgiving projects by making a book and even a Thanksgiving T-shirt. There are lots of fun and exciting things going on in class. Mrs. Munoz loves how hard her students work!

 Ms. Allegri’s 1st grade class is making things for Thanksgiving. They are reading about Thanksgiving and learning about its history in social studies. In math, they are learning equal and unequal numbers. They are learning about rivers, streams, lakes and, oceans.

    Mr. Richardson’s class is doing fun stuff with money. They learn how to add it and how to subtract it. In stations they have many fun activities with money, too. They are also reading a story about money and counting it.

    Mrs. Welch’s third grade class is going to the computer lab and using Compass Learning. Their favorite subject in Mrs. Welch’s class is math. The class used laptops for their first time to do the Common Assessments.  Their writing activity for the week is “Things I Am Thankful For”.  The class is reading Horrible Harry.  On Wednesday, they took a field trip to Brantley Farm.  The students were very excited! 

    In Ms. January’s 4th grade class, they are reading a story called “The Stranger.” In language they are learning about action and linking verbs. They are learning how to multiply two-digit and three-digit numbers by one-digit and two-digit numbers in math. The students’ favorite things about their class are science and math. They love how their teacher is so nice and funny.

     In Ms. Walker’s 5th grade classroom, they use the Smartboard to look over comprehension papers and to play a game from coolmath.com. They use the laptops to go on Moodle to do book reports and take tests. Their favorite thing about Ms. Walker’s class is their surroundings and their friends.

     In Mrs. Williams’ sixth grade class the students have been reading, reading, and reading. They are trying to improve their A.R. scores this grading period in hopes of a fantastic skating party. They enjoy creating their own projects on the computer which they use to teach the class their skills each week. They have been learning about Thomas Edison and other famous inventors and inventions that greatly changed the future. Presently, they are completing their projects on climates of the world and biomes. They also enjoy math, field trips, and playing at break.

     In Art the kindergarteners learned how to make an owl and feathers with torn paper. 1st graders learned how to put patterns on turtles. 2nd graders learned how to draw using simple shapes and how to draw themselves. 3rd - 5th graders learned how to make a cube using linear perspective and vanishing points. They are learning to draw straight lines with a ruler. They learn important things and have fun at the same time.
