At Magnolia School, Mrs. Littleton’s art class is doing very interesting things. The 4th and 5th graders are making cathedral windows and stained glass windows out of tissue paper. The 3rd graders are studying Albretch Durer and are also studying small patterns and small textures. 2nd graders are drawing a portrait of themselves with shadows. The 1st graders are drawing crayon resistant funny fish.
Mrs. Norwood’s Pre-K class is reading Dr. Seuss books. They are learning about rhyming words and have started learning about the colors red and blue for the story One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. They also have started doing St. Patrick’s Day activities.
Mrs. Brockett’s kindergarten classroom is working on daily journals and sight words on the computer. They enjoy reading books from their class library. For math they are subtracting. In science class they are learning about the solar system. In social studies they are learning about George Washington. The students’ favorite things to do in Mrs. Brockett’s class are to read, paint, and play.
Ms. Allegri’s 1st grade class is planting seeds in flower pots and watching them grow. In math they are subtracting and learning place value. In science they are learning about the planets and other exciting things in space. Their favorite thing about this class is that they have 6th grade student mentors in their class.
Ms. Partin’s 3rd grade class is a fun class that has a nice teacher and cool projects. In science they are learning about density and they completed a project about what sinks and what floats. In math they are learning about equilateral fractions, and they get candy for answering questions right in math. In reading they read a story about Africa, the people in it, and where the people travel to. The students think they have the best teacher out of the grade because she is nice and jokes around.
In Ms. Heinz’s 4th grade class, the students have been making posters for black history month. They use the laptops for research. The students are increasing their typing skills by typing biographies of other students. In reading they are comparing and contrasting. They have been learning about fractions. They love having fun learning.
With partners, Ms. Walker’s 5th grade class is constructing their own roller coaster. They use their Smartboard to do math activities and to edit daily language. In math they are learning about the line graphs and double bar graphs. Their favorite thing about this class is that they have a Smartboard.
For Dr. Seuss week Mrs. Bay’s 6th grade students learned how Dr. Seuss drew political cartoons showing Germany and Japan as our enemies. They are also learning about famous people that were part of World War II like Walt Disney, Adolf Hitler, Humphrey Bogart, and Amelia Earhart. In math, the students are doing great things when multiplying and dividing fractions. Do you know what multiplication inverse is? Her students do!
