The Magnolia Run 5K and fun run is scheduled for Saturday at 8 a.m. in Magnolia Springs, and Jesse’s Restaurant will follow with a seafood event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The race will begin at Jesse’s Restaurant on Oak Street. It’s the eighth annual Magnolia Run in the town.

Race-day registration for the 5K race is $20, and race-day registration for the 1-mile fun run is $12.

Each race participant can choose to donate $1 from his or her entry fee to Foley High School, Foley Intermediate School, Foley Middle School, Foley Elementary School, Elberta Elementary School, Elberta Middle School, Magnolia School, Summerdale Elementary School, Swift Elementary School or St. Benedict’s School.

All participants will receive a free T-shirt and entry to the post-race party, which will include food, music and prizes.

The seafood celebration will take place in front of the Magnolia Springs Fire Department.

It will be the first ever seafood celebration in the town.

“There will be around 10-11 different restaurants from South Baldwin County cooking seafood,” Garner Denmark, restaurant general manager, said. “The event is to celebrate seafood industry in the Gulf Coast. We’re just trying to make people aware that the seafood coming from the Gulf is safe. There also will be live music, wine pairings and arts and crafts.”

The event will cost $25 for residents at the door and $20 if residents purchase in advance.

Tickets are being sold at the restaurant this week, Denmark said.

Funds raised from the event will benefit the Magnolia Springs Kiwanis Club and St. Paul’s Chapel in Magnolia Springs.
