Maddox Jacob Jeansonne

Maddox Jacob Jeansonne was born on February 9, 2021 and died on February 3, 2023.

While his stay was brief, his memory is eternal to all that ever knew “Maddy”.  And what a life he lived to create those memories.  He lived a life that most little boys only dream about.

A typical day for Maddy started with an early rise out of bed, usually woken by the crow of a rooster.  Then a quite breakfast with Daddy, while Mama got some extra sleep.  They ate fresh eggs from the coop and his favorite food, any type of cheese.

On days when Daddy was home, those two would head outside to build a greenhouse, tan deer hides, or shoot a bow and arrow.  Then Mama would come outside and Maddy would help work in the garden or maybe paint furniture.

If you stopped by for a visit you were immediately drawn to a beautiful child with soft blonde curls and a grin that was cute and sweet, but also looking for an adventure.  Once he warmed up to you, this bright and bubbly child would probably grab you by the hand and say “mere” as you headed toward his favorite place, Juju and Paw Paw’s house.

You might notice that Maddy is barefoot.  But if he does happen to have shoes on, they won’t be his own and they are probably on the wrong feet.  While heading up the hill you would notice all the other children playing.  There would be too many kids to count, and all are around Maddie’s age.  All these children are his cousins and close friends.  You would hear the sounds of children laughing and giggling like you would hear on a school playground.  But this is not school, this is where Maddie lives.  Every day.

Every afternoon Juju and Paw Paw would see Maddy coming up the hill and smile in anticipation of what might come out of his mouth today.  Some new word or sentence that few 4-year-olds could say, much less under 2.  And no matter if your day was good or bad, Maddy would say something to make you smile and laugh.  After eating some cookies and drinking sweet tea, Maddy would head back down the hill towards home, stopping off to taunt the chickens.  He would grab your hand again and say “mo-on”.

This time he would take you to meet his doll he named “My-cul”. You might sit down to watch his favorite movie, The Grinch.  It didn’t matter if it was Christmas or not.

After dinner, Mama and Daddy would read him a book about anything to do with animals.  Then, he would settle down for bed with a bottle of water and just a touch of honey added.  But don’t forget the honey because if you do he will sure let you know.  Then, he will cuddle up with his stuffed possum, he calls Baby, and drift off to sleep without the slightest fuss.

And the next day he will do it all over again.  The life most little boys only dream about.
