Mary Louise Machlan, a native of Duluth, Mich., and a resident of Fairhope, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007.

She was a graduate of Hiram College (A.B.) and the University of Louisville (M.Ed.) and she pursued additional graduate work in mathematics and computer science at the University of South Alabama at Springhill College and at the University of Alabama. She taught three years in Kentucky, two years in Midland City and 36 years at Fairhope High School.

Survivors include a daughter, Marki Chatfield of Fairhope; grandson, Marcus Hathcock of Tucson, Ariz.; brother, Tom (Frances) Parks of Fairhope; nephews, Tom (Destiny) Parks III and Keith (Leigh) Parks; grand nieces, Laurin Parks and Chandler (Adam) Mikkleson; grand nephews, Tommy Chris and Stuart Parks; and cousin Kermit (Diane) Mangus.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Fairhope Christian Church.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Fairhope Christian Church.
