The City of Loxley Utilities Department was recognized for its work in water and wastewater operations, earning two awards at the Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association’s Awards Ceremony on Wednesday evening.
Loxley’s Drinking Water Treatment Plants received the Best Operated Plant Award, taking first place in the Ground Water, 5,000 to 15,000 Population category, a news release from the city said. The award recognizes the department’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the operation and management of the city’s drinking water facilities.
The Utilities Department also received the Award of Excellence, earning second place for the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Activated Sludge, 0 to 2 MGD category.
“These awards are a tremendous reflection of the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our Utilities Department,” Loxley Mayor Richard Teal said in the release. “Providing safe, reliable drinking water and maintaining an effective wastewater system are essential services for our community. We are extremely proud of our Utilities team and grateful for the commitment they demonstrate every day.”
