"font-family: calibri; font-size: 14pt;">A well known Loxley Elementary School landmark will no longer be. A huge magnolia tree, estimated to be at least 100 years old, is scheduled to be cut down on Monday, February 20. The tree has recently started loosing large limbs. A tree specialist determined the tree had been topped about 30 years ago, possibly by a hurricane. The damage left the tree open for water accumulation and now the trunk has rotted. Although the tree has survived this long, it is no longer safe and must be removed from the school campus. Teachers, students and Loxley residents are sad to see the magnificent tree go.
