GULF SHORES, AL - Police, fire and lifeguards units were searching for two children on the beach the evening of April 23.
Between 7:30 and 8 p.m. the two children sought walked up to a gathering of relatives and searching officials, Sgt. Jason Woodruff of the Gulf Shores Police Department said.
"All is well," Woodruff told Gulf Coast Media. "They walked up as soon as I arrived."
Beachgoers called Gulf Coast Media to say units were patrolling the beach making announcements about the missing children and other instructions. Donna Schultz of Birmingham said several vehicles came through saying they were looking for a children 8 and 11 years old, named a child and asked them both to call their grandmother.
Lt. Jeff Kimsey, the battalion chief on duty at Gulf Shores Fire Station No. 1, said he had few details but knew police officers, fire personnel and lifeguards were involved in the search.
"All is well," Woodruff told Gulf Coast Media. "They walked up as soon as I arrived."
