Loretta Lea Shirk Gibson, resident of Foley, passed away at a Pensacola Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.
Gibson finally received the angel wings she so richly deserved. She was born on December 21, 1934 in Michawukee, Indiana. She loved to travel and her marriage to a career soldier was perfect for her. She got to travel, raise her family, meet new people and make new friends and share her giving self with so many people. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Ray Bailey and her grandson, Brannon Ray Hendrix. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 53 years, Harvey E. “Hoot” Gibson; two sons, Marvin Pritchett of Kingman, Ind., and Mike Gibson of Columbus, Ga.; one daughter, Anne Laura Pate (Mark Traywick) of Columbus, Ga. She had five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. She also raised two foster children, Heather Madden Yehling and Mandy Madden of St. Louis, Mo., and a host of other relatives and friends. At her request there will be no public funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family request you make donations to Fisherman Baptist Church, 17101 River Road Bon Secour, AL, American Diabetic Assoc, or the American Cancer Society.
