Lombardo’s Royal Canadians in Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. — City of Gulf Shores Entertainment Series 2010 January offerings begin with a band of musicians who are known for playing “The Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven.”

Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians with Al Pierson will take the stage Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 18 and 19, at 7:30 p.m., performing tunes in the Lombardo signature style.

Make plans now for an evening of musical nostalgia at the Erie H. Meyer Civic Center, located at the intersection of West 19th Avenue and West Second Street in Gulf Shores.

Clipped brass phrases, exaggerated saxophone vibratos and a steady beat make it easy to identify such standards as “Ain’t She Sweet,” “Enjoy Yourself,” “Seems Like Old Times” and, of course, “Auld Lang Syne.”

Since 1989, award-winning musician, composer, vocalist, educator and bandleader Al Pierson has helped keep these favorites alive.

Visit the Erie Meyer Civic Center ticket office Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., to purchase tickets for one of these special concerts, or others in the series.

Preferred seats for the Royal Canadians are $27; good seats are $23.

Bring your checkbook or cash and they will help you find the seating that best suits your needs.
