LOL Fest to return to Gulf Shores for second year; moving to Waterway Village April 10-12

Love Our Locals (LOL) Festival is coming back to Gulf Shores for a second year, this time in a new location.

The event, which sold 200 tickets in advance last year, will be held April 10-12 at the Waterway Village parking lot, located next to The Sloop under the W.C. Holmes Bridge. Last year, the event was held at Shelby Park.

Gulf Shores' director of recreation and cultural affairs, Grant Brown, said this year will bring a "very active and aggressive music schedule" starting at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and wrapping up at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

On Friday, Just Roger, Ryan Balthrop and Jon Cook, Funky Lampshades and Avinu will be performing. Tyler Mac, Veronica Jean Trio, Saucy Fuzz, Grits & Greens and Rufus McBlack will be playing throughout the day Saturday. A soon-to-be-announced band will tag along with Justin Coulvard Band and The Destinations to round out the weekend with performances on Sunday.

This year, tickets will be available for purchase at the festival gate. Tickets are available for purchase: $5 for all-day admission and $10 for weekend passes. Elementary and middle school students can enter for free.

Gulf Shores Church of Christ has offered its parking lot to be used for the event and a shuttle system will run to and from Meyer Park, where additional parking will be available.

The large group activity permit was approved by city council at the March 23 council meeting. There was no public comment on the item.

At the March 16 work session where the permit was first brought before the council, Elizabeth Hood, founder and organizer of LOL Fest, said she encouraged Gulf Coast residents to attend as the festival was "created to bring the community together."

"I am very much committed to this festival and what it can bring to the Gulf Coast area," she said. "It's all for Gulf Coast locals. We want to shop local, support local and support one another."
